Have you ever wondered which animals are truly the ugliest, here are our top 10 most ugly animals from around the world and the deepest oceans.

1. The Aye-Aye

The aye-aye is a nocturnal lemur, native to Madagascar that combines rodent-like features and an unusually long middle-finger. The aye-aye is seen as a bad omen by the local people of Madagascar and is often killed for just this reason.

2. Frilled Shark

The Frilled Shark has a long snake-like body resembling that of an eel and the head of a snake, no wonder it seems so creepy. This creature is perfectly adapted for life in the deep sea and gets its name from its six strange looking pairs of ruffled gills.

3. Anglerfish

While some anglerfish can reach up to 3.3 foot in length, most are significantly smaller, the Anglerfish is possibly the ugliest creature on the planet and can be found in what is known as the midnight zone an incredibly deep part of our oceans.

4. Hairy Frog Fish

The Frogfish is a carnivorous fish that has the fastest known prey engulfment of any vertebrate. There are 46 known species of frogfish in the world, that can be found in tropical seas. Striated, or hairy, frogfish usually mimic algae or some soft corals and can occasionally even mimic venomous black sea urchins.

5. The illuminated NetDevil

This coal black deep-sea anglerfish makes its home in the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, near Japan and New Zealand. This fish has a bioluminescent bulb an top of its head and hanging filaments below, both its extremities glow brightly to attract prey.

6. Lappet-Faced Vulture

This species of vulture breeds in Egypt, Senegal, Niger, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Chad, Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Swaziland, Saudi Arabia.

It is the largest vulture in Africa, it dominates other vultures when feeding and is even large enough or powerful enough to fend off a jackal and is easily recognizable by its large size, pink-skinned head and distinctively fleshy folds of skin on the side of its neck.

One of the most unusual looking fish in the deep sea, it is easily recognized by its large mouth and sharp, fang-like teeth that are so large they don’t fit in its mouth. despite its creepy appearance this creature only reaches about 30cm in length, no danger to humans at all.

The weirdest turtle ever doesn’t come from the rural Matamata town in New Zealand, in fact, it originates on the other side of the world in South America’s Amazon and Orinoco basins where its bark-like leafy shaped head and body can perfectly blend into its surroundings.

9. Blob Fish

The very real and very ugly blobfish is native to the waters of Austrailia and New Zealand. It has absolutely no muscles so all it does is float on the sea floor how boring. still, this fish is able to consume other smaller sea invertebrates such as crabs and sea pens. There are approximately only 420 blobfish left in the world making them extremely endangered.

10. African Warthog

Young warthogs will stay with their mother until the birth of her next litter and have an average lifespan of 15 years in the wild. The common warthog can be found in grasslands, savanna, and woodlands in sub-Saharan Africa. Both male and female warthogs have tusks with male tusks becoming much larger than those of females.
