Maned Wolf

With markings resembling a fox, this is not a fox nor is it a wolf, considered an endangered animal, the Maned Wolf gets its name from it appearance, long hair or mane on the back of its neck. Maned wolves can be found in a wide range of habitats across Brazil, Bolivia, Peru and Argentina. Maned wolves are not social creatures but will take one mate for life, males and females are known to share the same territory however will only come together during mating the season.

The smallest of all the armadillo species, the Pink Fairy Armadillo is a strange looking pink creature that can be found in Central Argentina where it makes its home in sandy grassland, it is considered a nearly threatened animal because of habitat destruction.

Known to rarely attack humans, the Lamprey has seven gill openings that can be seen behind the eyes, an ocean dwelling Lampreys can be recognized by its large mouth and circular rows of teeth which are perfectly adapted to suck blood and bodily liquids from other sea creatures.

Star Nosed Mole

Almost completely blind, this strange looking animal can grow about 20 cm long. When feasting on earthworms and various other water dwelling insects the tentacles that are found on its nose are drawn completely out of the way, its safe to say it would be slightly uncomfortable to nibble your own nose, wouldn’t it. This small, strange animal is found in wet low areas of Canada and the northern parts of America.

Hummingbird Hawk-Moth

The Hummingbird Hawk-Moth can be found from Portugal to Japan, but mostly in warmer climates like Southern Europe and North Africa, the sound created by this animal while flying resembles that of an actual Hummingbird, although not endangered spotting one is still rare.
